  • Is the Festival open to the public?
    Yes, the festival is open to the public but for 2021 it is a mainly an online event due to COVID-19 Precautions - Any phsyical events will be announced nearer the time.
  • Where can I get an access pass?
    NO PASS or ticket is required for online screenings for #CIFF2021. All screenings are public and online unless otherwise indicated. More events will be added in the run up to the festival launch so keep checking back and watch our social media platforms for news and updates.
  • Is the award ceremony open to the public?
    The award Ceremony will be online for #CIFF2021 and open to official selection teams. The general will be able to view afterwards on Youtube.
  • Can I buy merchandising at the festival?
    Yes, merchandising will be available to purchase throughout the festival.
  • How do I volunteer?

  • How do I submit my film?
    Once submissions are open you can submit your film via FilmFreeway via the following link https://filmfreeway.com/CardiffInternationalFilmFestival Please read our full rules and conditions before you make a submission. These are available in this section. A digital screener is required (Password protected Vimeo is preferred). The submitter is responsible for ensuring that their screener link and password are active through to November 30, 2020. In the event of a password or URL change after submitting, please email us immediately. If we discover an error with the screener, we will attempt to email the submitter for an update. Failure to respond by the final submission deadline will result in disqualification wthout refund of submission fees. Online screeners must be available to stream, we do not accept any films which have to be downloaded. If your film is submitted into an incorrect category we reserve the right to move it into a different category or disqualify entires without notification All films should have been made in 2017 or later and meet the appropriate selection criteria. Promotional films are not eligible (e.g. films promoting tourism, charitable appeals, etc.). We do not accept any films which are availble to purchase. If you are selected and invited to screen, we will not accept films which exceed 5GB in file size. If your film includes sexually explicit content, graphic material or expletives please highlight this in your submission notes. If your film is selected for public screening it may be that you will be required to make sure that it is suitably certified according to BBFC guidelines www.bbfc.co.uk PLEASE NOTE - your fee is non-refundable if your film does not match the criteria listed on this page so please make sure your read the details thoroughly.
  • What running lengths do you accept?
    We accept feature films that are over 1 hour in running time and short films that are up to 45 minutes running time.
  • What is your criteria for Feature Films?
    All Feature Films must be a minimum of 1 hour. All foreign language films MUST have English subtitles. If you wish to be eligible for multiple awards you have to submit to several categories. If your film contains explicit content or expletives, please notify us of this on your submissions notes.
  • What is your criteria for Short Films?
    These films must be under 45 minutes in runtime. All non English Language films must have English Subtitles. If your film contains explicit content or expletives please notify us of this in your submission notes.
  • Where do I send my hard copy?
    We do not accept a physical copy without prior arrangement. If we do accept a physical copy, please be aware that it will not be returned and the content will be securely destroyed. If your film is selected for screening we may require a DCP version and we will contact you direct to request this.
  • What are the submission fees and deadlines?

  • Do you provide travel or accommodation assistance for exhibitors?
    We do not currently offer travel or accommodation assistance for exhibitors.

Physical copies of films will not be accepted unless prior arrangement has been made with the submissions team. If we do accept a physical copy, please be aware that it will not be returned and the content will be securely destroyed. If you wish to be eligible for multiple awards you have to submit to several categories. All films made and produced during 2017 and later will be accepted. We are not responsible for any copyright infringement of your material and you give us the permission to publish your images, poster and trailer on our website and/or social media pages. Promotional films are not eligible (e.g. films promoting tourism, charitable appeals, etc.) If your film includes sexually explicit content, graphic material or expletives please highlight this in your submission notes. If your film is selected for public screening it may be that you will be required to make sure that it is suitably certified according to BBFC guidelines www.bbfc.co.uk or a recognised equivalent. We will not accept films which exceed 5GB in file size. PLEASE NOTE - your fee is non-refundable if your film does not match the criteria listed on this page so please make sure your read the details thoroughly. During unexpected circumstances, we can at our discretion change venues and date of event.
